Child and Behavioral Therapy in Jacksonville, FL

A lot of families reach us after a note from school. Sometimes it is the reverse, and a child holds it together all day in the classroom and falls apart the minute they walk in the door at home. Either way, what parents say first is usually a version of the same sentence: something has changed, and nothing we have tried is working.

Challenges Conquered Counseling works with children in Jacksonville on behavior that has become hard to manage, big feelings that come out sideways, anxiety and school refusal, attention and focus difficulties, sleep trouble, grief, a divorce or a move, sibling conflict, and the effects of frightening or unstable experiences.

Children do not process things the way adults do, so therapy here does not look like sitting on a couch talking it through. Depending on age, sessions may involve play, drawing, stories, or games. Those are not filler. They are how a child shows what they cannot yet put into words, and how a therapist teaches skills like naming a feeling before it turns into a meltdown, or pausing long enough to make a different choice.

Parents are part of the treatment rather than spectators. A great deal of what changes a child’s behavior happens between sessions, in how a morning routine is built or how a limit is set and held. Your therapist will give you specific approaches to try at home and adjust them based on what actually happens. With your permission we can also coordinate with teachers or your pediatrician when that would help.

We are careful not to pathologize ordinary childhood. Part of the first appointment is sorting out what is developmentally expected from what genuinely deserves attention, so you leave with a clearer picture either way.

Our Jacksonville office is at 10163 Fortune Pkwy G40 on the Southside, off Butler Boulevard and convenient to Baymeadows, Mandarin, Arlington, and the Beaches. Telehealth is available throughout Florida and works well for parent sessions in particular.
