NFL Players and Families

Mental Health Counseling for NFL Players, Athletes & Their Families

Confidential Therapy for Life On and Off the Field

The game may last sixty minutes, but the pressures of being a professional athlete extend far beyond the stadium.

Whether you're preparing for the season, recovering from an injury, navigating a trade, balancing family life, adjusting to retirement, or simply carrying the weight of high expectations, your mental health matters.

At Challenges Conquered Counseling, we provide confidential, compassionate, and personalized mental health care for NFL players, professional athletes, retired athletes, coaches, spouses, partners, and their families. Our clinicians understand that behind every athlete is a person managing relationships, responsibilities, emotions, and life transitions that deserve just as much attention as physical performance.

Our goal is simple: to help you build resilience, strengthen relationships, improve emotional well-being, and thrive both on and off the field.

Therapy Designed for the Unique Demands of Professional Football

Professional football is unlike any other career.

The physical demands, constant evaluation, public visibility, injuries, relocations, contract negotiations, and uncertainty surrounding each season create challenges that many people never experience.

Those pressures don't stay at the practice facility—they often follow players home.

Whether you're entering the league, preparing for retirement, or somewhere in between, therapy provides a confidential place to process life's challenges while developing the tools needed to navigate them with confidence.

Our therapists frequently help clients with:

  • Anxiety and excessive worry

  • Depression

  • Stress and burnout

  • Emotional regulation

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Performance pressure

  • Identity outside of football

  • Anger management

  • Relationship conflict

  • Marriage and family concerns

  • Parenting challenges

  • Grief and loss

  • Career transitions

  • Retirement adjustment

  • Self-esteem and confidence

  • Life after football

Individual Therapy for NFL Players

Being mentally tough doesn't mean carrying everything alone.

Many athletes have spent years learning to suppress emotions, push through pain, and stay focused regardless of what they're experiencing internally. Those qualities may contribute to success on the field, but they can make it difficult to ask for help when life becomes overwhelming.

Individual counseling offers a confidential space where you can:

  • Reduce anxiety and chronic stress

  • Improve emotional awareness

  • Process difficult life experiences

  • Navigate injuries and recovery

  • Strengthen relationships

  • Improve work-life balance

  • Prepare for retirement

  • Develop purpose beyond football

  • Build resilience for life's next chapter

Therapy isn't about making you less competitive.

It's about helping you become healthier, more present, and more fulfilled in every area of your life.

Counseling for Spouses, Partners & Families

A professional football career impacts the entire family.

Frequent travel, changing teams, media attention, demanding schedules, relocations, and career uncertainty often create challenges that extend beyond the athlete.

Our therapists work with spouses, partners, children, and family members who may be experiencing:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Parenting stress

  • Communication difficulties

  • Emotional disconnection

  • Family transitions

  • Relationship strain

  • Life adjustments following retirement or relocation

Healthy families provide the strongest foundation for long-term success and well-being.

Whether your loved one is preparing for a season, recovering from an injury, or transitioning into retirement, we're here to support your entire family.

Couples Counseling

Strong relationships require intentional investment.

The unique demands of professional sports can create additional stressors that many couples never encounter.

Travel schedules, public expectations, injuries, career changes, financial decisions, parenting responsibilities, and retirement can all affect communication and emotional connection.

Our couples therapists help partners:

  • Improve communication

  • Strengthen emotional intimacy

  • Rebuild trust

  • Resolve recurring conflict

  • Navigate major life transitions

  • Improve parenting teamwork

  • Balance career and family life

  • Strengthen their partnership beyond football

Our role isn't to determine who's right or wrong.

Our role is to help both partners better understand one another, communicate more effectively, and build a healthier relationship together.

Life After Football

Retirement from professional sports is one of life's biggest transitions.

Whether retirement is planned or unexpected, many athletes experience feelings they never anticipated.

Questions like:

"Who am I without football?"

"What's next?"

"How do I replace the structure I've had my entire life?"

are incredibly common.

Therapy can help former players navigate:

  • Identity changes

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Loss of purpose

  • Career exploration

  • Relationship adjustments

  • Family role changes

  • Building a meaningful life after football

Your playing career may end, but your next chapter has the potential to be just as fulfilling.

Trauma-Informed Care

Many athletes carry experiences that extend far beyond the game.

Whether related to childhood adversity, injuries, personal loss, military service, family experiences, or events during their athletic careers, unresolved trauma can affect relationships, mood, confidence, and overall well-being.

Our clinicians provide trauma-informed care that helps clients better understand how past experiences influence present-day thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships.

Treatment may include evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and other individualized therapeutic approaches based on your unique needs.
