Couples Therapy Intensives

Sometimes one hour just isn't enough.

Our Couples Therapy Intensive gives you and your partner dedicated time to slow things down, understand what's really happening in your relationship, and begin creating a clearer path forward.

In a single three-hour block, each of you meets with the therapist individually, then you come together for focused couples work. You leave with a shared understanding of what's keeping the relationship stuck and a clear recommendation for what comes next.

Intensives are held in person at our Fort Lauderdale office and are led by a licensed therapist who specializes in couples work.

Is a Couples Intensive Right for You?

This may be a good fit if you're dealing with:

  • Repeated arguments or communication breakdowns

  • Infidelity or broken trust

  • Emotional distance or disconnection

  • Major relationship stress or transitions, including co-parenting conflict, relocation, or a new baby

  • Feeling stuck in traditional weekly therapy

  • A need for clarity about what comes next

  • Schedules that make weekly sessions hard to keep

When an intensive isn't the right first step

Every couple is different, which is why we start with a brief consultation. An intensive is usually not the best fit when:

  • Either partner is attending because they feel pressured to

  • There is ongoing physical, verbal, or emotional abuse in the relationship

  • One partner has an untreated substance use or mental health concern that needs attention first

  • One partner has already decided to end the relationship

In those situations, we'll recommend a different starting point, which may include individual therapy or a different service at our practice.

How the 3-Hour Intensive Works

Hour 1 — Partner One

Hour 2 — Partner Two

Hour 3 — Together

Individual session to discuss your perspective, concerns, relationship history, and goals.

Individual session to share your experience and what you believe the relationship needs.

You both meet with the therapist to identify relationship patterns, clarify priorities, and begin working toward change.

The full intensive takes place on a single day, with short breaks between each hour.

Why Start Individually?

Every relationship has two perspectives.

Meeting with each partner separately gives your therapist a better understanding of what each person is experiencing before bringing you together for focused couples work.

The goal is not to determine who is right or wrong. The goal is to understand what is keeping the relationship stuck and what needs to happen next.

What you share in your individual hour is used to guide the joint session, not to take sides. If there is something you're not ready to bring into the room together, tell your therapist during your individual time and you'll decide together how to handle it.

What to Expect

The day of

Plan for about three and a half hours at our Fort Lauderdale office. Each partner is welcome to wait in our lobby or step out during the other's individual hour.

Frequently asked questions

How is a couples intensive different from weekly couples therapy?

An intensive puts about three hours into one visit instead of spreading an hour at a time over many weeks. Each of you meets the therapist alone first, then you work together. Many couples find it helps when schedules are tight or when weekly sessions have felt stuck.

What does the intensive cost, and how do I pay?

The three-hour couples intensive is $899 per couple. A 25% deposit is due at booking and the balance is due on the day of your intensive. Ask about the cancellation policy when you book.

What if one of us is not sure they want to come?

Tell us up front. We begin with a brief consultation, and an intensive is usually not the best first step if either partner feels pressured to attend. We would rather point you to a better starting place than have you sit through three hours you did not choose.

Does my partner hear what I share in my individual hour?

Your individual hour is used to guide the joint session, not to take sides. If there is something you are not ready to bring into the room, tell your therapist during your individual time and you will decide together how it is handled.

What happens after the intensive?

Your therapist recommends next steps based on what you shared. That could be weekly couples therapy, additional extended sessions, individual therapy alongside couples work, or focused work on trust or communication. You can continue with the same therapist.
